Pagoda Mountain: This symmetrical cone, the seventh tallest peak in the Park at 13,497', snuggling the base of Longs Peak, resembled a pagoda (a far Eastern religious tower, often with many elaborately decorated floors) to one of the areas first artists, Dean Babcock. He roamed the mountains many summers until his mother bought 80 acres of land in 1910 when he spent much time here. He once walked all over the Front Range, from Boulder back to Boulder via the Park, Grand Lake, and the Indian Peaks.
Great views of Glacier Gorge and Chiefs Head Peak, as well as the Indian Peaks, south of here, are experienced by anyone climbing this peak.#
